3 Tips to Survive a Cookout while Eating Healthy

Summer is in full effect, and naturally, that means it’s cookout season. The grill is fired up, theres an endless spread of sides, and the drinks are being poured up. Everything I used to love about cookouts, is everything that I am trying hard to stay away from, for the sake of my health and overall wellbeing.

There’s so much more to cookouts though, so much that I don’t want to miss, like dressing up, laughing with family and friends, dancing to my favorite songs, and of course, taking pics for the gram. Stick to your long term plan, while “turning up” with these 3 trusty tips!

1. EAT BEFORE YOU GO!

If you are going to spend time with family and friends, do it, just not on an empty stomach. If there’s something for you to eat, great, if not, oh well. Don’t let unfriendly menu leave you hangry.

2. BE PICKY!

If you must indulge in some items off the “Do Not Eat” list, atleast don’t over do it.

3. NO TO-GO PLATES!

If your bad with self control like me, this is probably the most important rule. If the food is on the “Do Not Eat” list, don’t take it to your house. You will probably eat it.
