Cookouts are so exciting, all those delicious foods in one place?!
Since I started eating a plant based diet, and cut back on drinking, cookouts have really lost their appeal. Eating vegetarian can be tough, eating vegan might just mean you don’t eat at all.
Cookouts can be intense. All the foods that have slowly become easier to resist have gotten together and are now all taunting you with the assistance of your family and friends. If your family and friends are like mine, they have NO RESPECT, for your commitment to your health.
They will offer you everything you love, everything on your mental “Do Not Eat” list, maybe more than once. You might be the theme for a few jokes. Worst of all, you might give in. You might cave. You might eat some of the things you didn’t want to eat. You might drink some things that you didn’t want to drink.
I want to be the first to tell you that it’s okay. you aren’t alone. Sometimes you will only get an A for effort, but with every effort, you will get better.
This summer, share a watermelon with the squad. Hydrate your homies.
